- Introduction: Be part of the community conversation surrounding police and community collaboration.
On Wednesday, May 10 at 6:30 p.m. the Marion Police Department will host an event in the Lecture Hall at Linn-Mar High School to discuss police and community collaboration.
The program will include a pilot screening of the feature documentary, “Uncommon Allies,” which provides a glimpse into the struggles of a Midwestern city dealing with the realities of high crime, homicide and a need to adapt evidence based police strategies to improve community relations.
The film shares the story of Rosilyn Temple, who in the wake and devastation of her son’s murder, turned a personal search for justice into a life changing community call to action.
Rosilyn Temple and others with the Kansas City chapter of Mothers in Charge will be in Marion on May 10 and will participate in an interactive panel discussion with representatives of the Marion Police Department, students from the Linn-Mar Accountability Leadership and Opportunity (ALO) organization and community leaders immediately following the documentary.
The film does contain mature content and is not intended for young children.
Be part of the community conversation and plan to attend on May 10. Advance RSVP preferred.
