Newest Segment of Tower Terrace Road Now Open
City staff, community leaders and Chamber ambassadors gathered on Friday, April 21 at 10:30 a.m. for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the newest segment of Tower Terrace Road in Marion.
The ceremony took place at the intersection of 10th Street and Tower Terrace Road. The road opened to traffic following the ceremony.
The project included the signalization of the 10th Street and Tower Terrace Road intersection as well as extension of the roadway east of 10th Street to the new location of Winslow Road, west of Indian Creek. The project was a public/private partnership between Mooney-Engle Land Company and the City of Marion.
Once completed, Tower Terrace Road will provide another major east-west arterial route across the northern portion of the Cedar Rapids metro area, connecting Interstate 380 to Highway 13.
This is the fifth phase of Tower Terrace Road completed in Marion. To date, more than $8 million in commercial investments have been introduced along this corridor.
