Heat Relief Protocol for Marion Residents

As temperatures rise, the Marion Fire Department and Linn County Emergency Management would like to remind residents of the protocol in place when Excessive Heat Warnings are issued by the National Weather Service.

Persons seeking relief during times of high heat indices should go to a heat relief location. Identified locations for cities within Linn County can be obtained by calling 2-1-1. Marion residents are encouraged to visit one of the following locations:

Marion Public Library, 1095 6th Avenue, Marion
Monday-Thursday, 9:30 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Friday-Saturday, 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Sunday, 2-5 p.m.

Lindale Mall, 4444 1st Avenue NE, Cedar Rapids
Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Sunday, noon-6 p.m.

Salvation Army has fans available for those without air conditioning or a fan. Call (319) 364-9131 to inquire.

Please check on neighbors, family members and friends that are especially vulnerable to high heat indices due to age, medical or other conditions.
