The City Council of the City of Marion, Linn County, Iowa met in special session, Wednesday, September 27, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. in the council chambers of City Hall with Mayor Nieland presiding and the following council members present:  Cram, Rehn, Lammers, Pazour, and Adamson.  Absent:  Wagner.

Resolution No. 19038 approving Official Finance Report for City Streets for the period July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006 was read by Rehn.  Moved by Rehn, seconded by Pazour to approve Res. No. 19038.  All in favor, motion carried.

City Manager Jeff Schott reviewed the proposed changes to the job description for City Manager.  City Attorney Don Hoskins suggested that the job description be revised from requiring “Minimum five years experience in city administration and management experience.” to “Minimum five years experience in city administration and management experience or the equivalent.”  Council Member Adamson asked about the requirement for a valid Iowa driver’s license.  City Attorney Don Hoskins suggested that the wording be changed to “Must have or obtain a valid Iowa driver’s license.”  Moved by Rehn, seconded by Pazour to receive and file the revised job description for City Manager subject to the recommendations regarding experience and driver’s license.  All in favor, motion carried.

City Manager Jeff Schott discussed the schedule for City Manager replacement with the City Council. 

Mayor Nieland adjourned the meeting at 2:58 p.m.
