The Marion housing code is enforced through scheduled inspections of all residential rental property in Marion and specific situations identified through citizen requests or City employee observations of potentially unsafe living conditions

These residential rental properties are buildings that are owned by one party and lived in by another party known as a tenant.

Regular inspection of all rental dwelling units, including rooming houses, congregate housing, single housing units and independent group residences are to be conducted every three (3) years. The City of Marion currently has over 3,400 rental units, with over 1,000 inspection each year.

The housing inspectors also investigate all complaints alleging violations of the Housing Code. To file a complaint please contact Building Services.
