Q.   Where can I find information regarding what Marion has for ordinances and resolutions?

A.    The City Clerk’s Department is responsible for maintaining ordinances and resolutions.  If a document can't be found online, you can request copies online or visit us at 1225 6th Avenue, Suite 170, Marion, IA. The Code of Ordinances can also be viewed online. 

 

Q.   Do I need to license my dog?

A.    Chapter 55.14 of the Code of Ordinances states that “Every cat or dog which is over six (6) months of age shall wear a collar with a valid rabies vaccination tag attached to the collar when outside the owner’s dwelling.” “The rabies vaccination tag and certificate shall be the license required by this chapter.”

 

Q.   Where can I have a document notarized?

A.    There are two notaries on staff within the City Clerk’s Department.  Notarial services are available free of charge and within the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Please bring a photo identification card with you.

 

Q.   How do I register to vote or request an absentee ballot?

A.    The City Clerk’s Department has voter registration and absentee ballot request forms available. You can access these election forms online or visit us at 1225 6th Avenue, Suite 170, Marion, IA.
