Tot Time at Lowe Park

Children Ages 2+

Looking for something fun to keep your little one busy and active? Give this new program a try! Parents and children will have access each day to a variety of sports equipment and games to play with. No structure or instructor, just show up and play with the provided equipment! This program is held outdoors. In the event of inclement weather or rain, the program will be canceled.

Fee: FREE, just show up ready to play and mingle

Story Time at The Amphitheater

Children Ages 1+

Join us out at Lowe Park as the Marion Public Library brings their popular story time on the road. Enjoy a story with your little one as you take in the beautiful surroundings that the park has to offer. Program will be held outdoors as weather permits.

NEW! Lil' Tykes Basketball Camp

Children Ages 3–6

Join the Marion Parks and Recreation staff this fall for this new youth basketball program. This program is held outdoors at the Thomas Park basketball courts. Children will learn a variety of basic fundamentals such as dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, and more through a variety of drills and fun skill-building exercises. There are no games played during this program. The primary objective of this program is to introduce children to the basic fundamentals of basketball in a non-competitive environment. Limited number of spots available.

Fee: $33.00, includes camp shirt

The Painted Pumpkin

No carving here! Help us decorate the Lowe Park Arts & Environment Center for Halloween. Painters will receive one pumpkin with their registration to decorate to their liking. Paint and limited craft supplies will be provided. Pumpkins will be voted on by a combination of staff, public and Facebook "Likes".

Lil' Chefs & Kid Crafters Combo

Children Ages 3–5

Can’t decide on the crafts or cooking? If so, then this is the class for you and your little one. Get the best of both worlds with this new combo class. Children will craft/cook alternating weeks, so you have two crafts and two cooking experiences. Parents are encouraged to participate with their child. Limit 15 participants.

NEW! Putt-Putt Indoor Golf

Children Ages 5 & 6

An introduction to putting using the S.N.A.G. (Starting New At Golf) golf system. Children will learn proper stance and grip as well as proper stroke and pace. Kids will practice putting through a variety of obstacles and play rounds of "mini golf" to practice the skills. Limited number of spots available.

Great Tree Decorating Contest

Our Christmas tree could use a little T.L.C. Help us decorate our tree at Lowe Park for the season. Fill, paint, color your ornament and leave it for us to put on our tree. Ornaments will be voted on by a combination of public, department staff and Facebook "Likes".

Candy Cane HuntCrafts, Candy Cane Hunt, Christmas

For everyone that still believes! Someone has left candy canes around the Lowe Park Arts & Environment Center. Come help us find them all! First, we’ll decorate some seasonal crafts and then the hunt is on to find every last candy cane. After the hunt, we’ll enjoy milk, juice and treats and maybe even a Christmas story. Limited number of spots available.

Shooting Stars Basketball (2018)

This instructional program works on the basic skills of dribbling, passing, and shooting. Players spend the first 2 meetings working on skills and practicing with their team and coach(es), then scrimmage the remaining 3 meetings. There are no additional practices. VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED!

Little Stars Basketball (2018)

Players meet for 5 classes to work on very basic ball handling, shooting, and passing skills. Parents participate with their child or children for this program as recreation staff instructs and demonstrates the drills.

Indoor Blastball Camp (2018)

Blastball helps prepare players for organized baseball/softball in a fun, non-competitive environment. Children will be introduced to the fundamentals of throwing, hitting, and fielding while fostering the values of teamwork and good sportsmanship. Limited number of spots available.
