PURPOSE:The Planning & Zoning Commission makes recommendations to the City Council regarding rezoning, preliminary and final plats, site plans and certain ordinance changes. The Commission reviews applications in accordance with approved regulations pertaining to all zoning districts within the City of Marion. The Commission also gives reasonable consideration to the character of districts and their unique suitability for particular uses, with a view toward conserving the value of buildings, encouraging the most appropriate use of land throughout the City, and encouraging compliance with the approved Comprehensive Plan.
ABOUT THE COMMISSION:
The Marion Planning and Zoning Commission consists of nine (9) members appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council.

The Planning & Zoning Commission meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00PM in Marion City Hall (1225 6th Avenue). The presence of five (5) members is necessary to constitute a quorum. This is an open meeting and the public is invited to attend. If you would like to be notified when the agenda is posted, please register on the E-Notification Page.
