In 2017, the State approved the sale of fireworks in Iowa.
Marion City Council approved a resolution allowing the use of consumer fireworks, but has restricted the number of days the use is allowed.Consumer fireworks usage is allowed in Marion on the following dates/times:
June 24–July 8 9 a.m.—10 p.m.
July 1, 2, 4, 8 9 a.m.—11 p.m.
Dec. 31 9 a.m.—12:30 a.m.
Jan. 1 9 a.m.—10 p.m.
Fireworks may be used:
- on the user's property
- on the property of someone who has given permission for the use of fireworks on their property
Fireworks may NOT be used in public parks.To report the usage of fireworks outside of the permissible dates/times, please call the Marion Police Department's non-emergency line 319-377-1511 with as many details of the location, as possible.
