Growing Up Country Spring Author Dinner
Mark your calendars now for next spring’s annual author dinner! The Friends are excited to announce that our 2009 author is Iowa native Carol Bodensteiner, whose book Growing Up Country: Memories of an Iowa Farm Girl, presents a compelling tale that we hear all too infrequently: the story of a happy childhood. Carol will talk about her book, her childhood, and her writing on the evening of Thursday, April 16, 2009 at the Longbranch Hotel in Marion. Dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. Copies of the book will be available to purchase. In the meantime, the library has several copies on order, or you can purchase your own early – and learn a little more about Carol – at her Web site: http://carolbodensteiner.com; Barnes & Noble should also be able to order a copy for you.
We are excited to welcome Carol as the honored guest at our annual get-together, and we’re sure you’ll enjoy meeting her, too. Carol was born in Maquoketa and raised on a dairy farm between Maquoketa and Preston. She graduated from UNI, and among many other professional pursuits, spent ten years as president of CMF&Z Public Relations in Cedar Rapids. She now lives with her husband on an acreage outside of Des Moines, contributes articles to journals and magazines, and consults and teaches at Drake.
Watch the library website for information about dinner tickets.
Please join us to welcome Carol next April!
