Policies and Regulations

Financial Assistance
The Marion Parks and Recreation Department wants
to assure that everyone has the opportunity to participate
in our programs. Eligibility is based on the following:
you must be a Marion resident. You will need to bring
copies of your last pay stubs and previous year’s Federal
Income Tax Form. Assistance will be granted on the basis
of financial need. We also have a form in the office you
must complete. The process can take up to 5 days.

Insurance
The Marion Parks and Recreation Department does
not provide individual accident liability insurance.

Attention Active Participants
Registrants in any program assume responsibility for
any risk, implicit or direct, by participation in said activity
or facility. Many programs involve body contact,
substantial physical exertion, emotional stress, and/or use
of equipment, which represents a certain risk to users. It
is recommended you check with your physician prior to
participating.

Team Assignment Policy
To assign team fairly, volunteer coaches may pick
ONE assistant. If a program needs more than two coaches
per team, the Recreation Department will assign the additional
assistant from names of volunteers appearing on
the registration forms. Children will be placed on teams
in a random manner. Children living in the same household
will be placed on the same team, providing they are
in the same division. No special team or car pooling requests.

Fees, Late Fees & Refunds
All fees are payable at the time of registration. Checks
should be made out to the Marion Parks Dept. A late fee
of $5.00 per individual registration will be added after the
registration deadline.

Refunds will be given for withdrawals from an activity
prior to the start of the event, however a $5.00 administrative
fee will be charged. No refunds after a program
has started. Refund checks will be mailed and can take
up to three weeks to process.

Commitment to Programs
Please remember that when you register your child for
recreational programs you are not only making a commitment
to your child but the other children on the team. It is
very important to try and get your child to every practice
as well as games.

Volunteer to Coach
The Marion Parks and Recreation Department is always
looking for coaches and assistant coaches. If you
are interested in coaching or helping with a program
please make note of that on the registration form or call
Karlene, 377-4846.

If you would like to help but can’t make a 100%
commitment please write on the registration form that
you would only like to be an assistant.
