Harry R. Daugherty

After serving three years in the United States Army, Chief Daugherty joined the Marion Police Department in 1976. He has worked his way up through the ranks and was appointed Chief of Police in 1996.

Chief Daugherty maintains his status as a certified firearms instructor and hostage negotiator.

Police Department

Marion Police StationMarion has a full service police department consisting of 42 officers and 9 civilian employees.

The department has three divisions. The Patrol Division provides day to day, community oriented police services including bicycle patrol, a K-9 unit, a full time School Resource Officer, and a High Risk Entry and Arrest Team. The Investigations Division conducts follow up investigations and provides crime scene processing, photographic support, polygraph examinations, arson investigators and bomb technicians. The Support Services Division operates our Communications Center, records management and is responsible for building and fleet maintenance.
