Animal Control

City animal licenses are not required; however, dogs or cats over six months of age are required to have rabies vaccinations and wear a collar with valid rabies vaccination tag (obtained from the veterinarian).

Marion has an animal control ordinance. Pets are not allowed to run at-large. Instead they should either be confined in a completely enclosed area or kept on a leash or chain. If on a chain, the animal should not be allowed to reach a public sidewalk, alley or private property other than the owner's.

Animal owners are also reminded to clean up after their pets when taking them on walks. Failure to do so is a violation of city ordinance.
