MARION ARTS COUNCIL CURRENT EXHIBIT

"Springtime" April 21st-June 6th, 2008
After a long hard winter come see local artists interpretation of Spring. 

GALLERY HOURS: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm and Saturday 1-3pm
* Our galleries include the Main Gallery, Hall Gallery and the Marion School Art Wall Gallery.

We now have new gallery lights to enhance the artwork and lighted display cases for three dimensional artwork.

Do you identify with the renascence of Spring?
The Marion Arts Council announces an art exhibition opportunity for you…

1.Participants may be any age, but must be a resident or a student in the state of Iowa.
2.Participants will produce two or three dimensional, original artwork. 
3.Each artist may submit 2 pieces of artwork depicting springtime in some fashion.
 (Produced within the last 3 years.)
4.When the artwork is submitted, it must include a label on the back of the artwork and a registration form filled out and signed.
5.Youth through grade 12, may submit unframed, 2 dimensional artwork.  Adults must have 2 dimensional artwork framed with 2 hanging points that are 3 inches down the side, from the top of the frame.  (Framed artwork with one hanging point will not be accepted.)
6.Two or three dimensional artwork, must be delivered to, Lowe Center, by Friday, April 18th, 2008, 5:00 p.m.
 (Artwork delivered after this date and time will not be accepted.)
7. Artwork must have an insurance value on it.  If it is for sale, the sale price must be noted.  If it is not for sale, mark NFS with a value in parentheses.
8.   Artists are encouraged to attend and invite friends and family to the exhibition reception on Thursday, April 24th, 2008 from 7-8pm.
9. Artwork may be picked up on Saturday, June 7th, between 9am and noon or 1-3pm.  If  this time is not convenient, you may pick up your artwork, after June 8th, Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm or any Saturday from 1-3pm.  The artwork will be in the Marion Arts Council’s studio. (Any artwork that has not been picked up by June 28th, 2008 will become the property of the Marion Arts Council.)
10.  If you would like to include a short biography about you and or your artwork, please include it on a 3”x 5” computer printed card.  This will be displayed along with your artwork.

Workshop: Collages (Ages 12-Adult) 
* Saturday, May 24th, ’08, Lowe Studio, Starts @9:30am
$5.00 materials and instruction fee. There will be several stations of different kinds of collages to create. 

Workshop: Plein Air (Creating art outside) (Completed Grades K-3)
(Completed Grades K-3) Must be accompanied by an adult.
* Saturday, June 14th, ’08, Lowe Studio, Starts @9:30am
$5.00 materials and instruction fee.

Arts Council

The Arts Council  is responsible for recommending and planning events and cultural activities.

The Arts Council meets the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Parks Department located at Lowe Park Arts and Environment Center, 4500 N Tenth Street.  Those currently appointed to the Arts Council are:
