Marion Fire Department Lieutenant Jeff Madland, Lieutenant Zach Bruce and Firefighter Zach Brunscheen have successfully completed the process that awards the professional designation of Fire Officer (FO). These individuals become three of only 706 FOs worldwide, and three of 18 in the State of Iowa.

To learn life-saving CPR skills, free of charge, sign up to attend the Marion Community CPR Class on Feb. 17, 2024, from 9 a.m.-noon at the headquarters for the Marion Fire Department, 100 Irish Drive. Marion Fire Department professionals will be the trainers.

Due to the event activity in the Uptown Marion area, drivers are reminded to use caution and yield to pedestrians and the horse drawn carriages. On Nov. 1, 2023, the Iowa Department of Revenue issued a rollback order that will be applied to Jan. 1 assessments. This applies to taxes payable September 2024 and March 2025. The order decreases the residential rollback (percentage of residential property that is taxable) from 54.6501% to 46.3428%
