The Streetscape Plan/7th Avenue Improvements project encompasses the reconstruction of public right-of-way along 9 city blocks with a project cost estimate of $6.9 million (including the North Plaza). RDG Planning & Design and Anderson-Bogert worked closely with staff to move concepts from the Uptown Master Plan pertaining to the streetscape and the north plaza into the design phase and technical engineering documents. Not only will the reconstruction include a new road surface, but also new storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water main/services into existing buildings, sidewalks (including working with businesses/building owners to provide ADA accessible entrances), and underground utilities. The streets included within the 9 blocks are:

  • 7th Avenue between 8th Street and 12th Street
  • 9th Street between 6th Avenue and 8th Avenue
  • 10th Street between 6th Avenue and 8th Avenue
  • 11th Street between 7th Avenue and the Uptown Artway (to become the North Plaza area)
  • 12th Street between 6th Avenue and 8th Avenue

Planning efforts for the reconstruction of 7th Avenue and adjacent side streets have been in the works for years. The Uptown Artway was a big initiative to help promote the use of the back entrances into businesses in preparation for the reconstruction of 7th Avenue.
