ABOUT US
The Marion Water Department is dedicated to providing its customers with a safe, high quality and reliable water supply that meets or exceeds all federal and state drinking water requirements. Our goal is to produce and distribute our product in the most efficient way, while maintaining and upgrading the system to meet future requirements. We are also committed to providing professional and courteous services to satisfy the diversified needs of our customers.
Marion Water Department is governed by a five member Citizens' Board of Trustees, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. The Board of Trustees meets in person on the second Tuesday of every month at 4:00 PM and on ZOOM at the Marion Water Department Administration office at 3050 5th Avenue.
The department employs nine field employees and five office staff. There are 15,485 metered accounts which are serviced through a network of 210.4 miles of water mains, 4,569 public and private water valves and 1,981 fire hydrants.
Water is supplied by 8 deep wells, and five pumping stations, five ground storage tanks with a total capacity of 3,200,000 gallons, and three elevated storage tanks with a total of 2,000,000 gallons of capacity.
The average daily water pumpage is 3,106,000 gallons.
