Garbage, recycling and yard waste will not be collected on Thanksgiving Day and pick-up will be delayed by a day for both Thursday and Friday routes. The final day for curbside yard waste collection in 2024 will be Dec. 13.

Marion Fire Department Responds to Commercial Structure Fire at 850 Twixt Town Road

This fire was determined to be accidental, caused by inappropriately stored materials on a countertop stove. Because this building had both an alarm system and a sprinkler system, the fire was rapidly detected and contained, and loss was limited.

The City of Marion is partnering with RDG Planning & Design to re-imagine one existing park and gather ideas for two new neighborhood parks. A ribbon-cutting and lighting ceremony is set for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at the base of the gateway bridge that spans Marion Boulevard. Parking is available at Indian Creek Mall, 115 Marion Blvd.

Trick-Or-Treat in Marion on Oct. 31; Special Event Planned at City Hall

Community-wide trick-or-treating in Marion takes place on Halloween. There is no set start time but trick-or-treating should conclude by 8 p.m. Participating residents should turn on their porch lights when they are ready to greet trick-or-treaters and turn them off when finished.
