General Information

PUBLIC SERVICES ADDRESS: 195 35th Street

PUBLIC SERVICES OFFICE HOURS:  Monday - Friday: 7 a.m.-4 p.m.

RECYCLING CENTER DROP-OFF HOURS: (open year-round 2 days a week)

  • Tuesdays from noon-5:45 p.m.
  • Saturdays from 8 a.m.-4:15 p.m.

YARD WASTE FACILITY HOURS: (open year-round 6 days a week)

  • Weekdays from 7 a.m.-3:15 p.m.
  • Tuesday evenings open until 5:45 p.m.
  • Saturdays from 8 a.m.-4:15 p.m.

Compost and wood chips are available.

Grass clippings must be placed in paper bio-degradable bags, all other yard waste may be placed in 33 gallon cans, clearly marked with a "Y" facing the street.

The Public Services Department is responsible for collecting garbage, recycling, and yard waste from all designated residential dwellings within Marion. Collection of garbage and recycling from commercial and multi-family dwellings are performed by commercial solid waste haulers that are licensed to haul within the City of Marion.

The Public Services Department maintains a holiday collection schedule to coincide with City/department holidays and the Cedar Rapids Linn County Solid Waste Agency.
