The City of Marion is a rapidly growing community with a population of approximately 38,023. While primarily a residential community with light industry and retail businesses, U.S. Highway 151 is utilized by thousands of drivers commuting to work in the Cedar Rapids/Linn County metropolitan area. The City of Marion is proud to have one of the lowest crime rates in Iowa.

Police ChiefThe Marion Police Department is led by Chief Mike Kitsmiller and is located at 6315 Highway 151. We employ 48 sworn and six civilian employees. The agency consists of the following bureaus: administration, patrol and investigations. Within the patrol and investigations divisions there are many specialty assignments, including Narcotics Task Force, Hostage Negotiation, K9 Unit, DARE (Drug Abuse and Resistance Education), SRO (School Resource Officer), Crime Scene Investigation as well as Bomb and Arson Investigation and the SRT (Special Response Team).
