The City of Marion and RDG Planning and Design are hosting a public open house to help inform an update to the City’s Comprehensive Plan. The effort is coined Marion 2045: A Plan to Reach New Heights.
The community kick-off open house is planned for Thursday, April 18, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Lowe Park Arts & Environment Center, 4500 N. 10th Street, Marion. There will be no formal presentation, but attendees will be asked to think about future land use, identify growth and enhancement areas and give input on key areas such as housing, parks and recreation, transportation and more.
The Comprehensive Plan is a tool that provides community leaders and decision-makers with a roadmap for growth based on the vision of community stakeholders. It considers not only the current needs and issues within the community but guides future improvements and developments for the next 15 to 20 years.
Those unable to attend are invited to visit cityofmarion.org/CompPlan to take an online survey (available on April 15), share comments via the interactive map and stay up-to-date on additional public participation opportunities. Full development of the plan is expected to take 16 months.
