The City of Marion uses a Geographic Information System (GIS) to keep track of the size and location of the following:

  • Sanitary Sewer (mains and service locations)
  • Storm Sewer (mains and drain tile locations)
  • Traffic Control Devices (stop lights, stop signs, speed limit signs, etc.)
  • Right-of-Way Trees
  • Subdivisions
  • Survey Base Station Control Points
  • Sanitary Hook-up Fees
  • Sidewalk Infractions

We also work directly with the Linn County GIS Department to obtain parcel information and corporate limits. The City updates its aerial photographs every five years. You can obtain information by calling the Engineering Department at 319-743-6340 or stopping by City Hall. You can also obtain basic parcel information via Linn County GIS.
