In 2022, staff reviewed the Marion Code of Ordinances to identify all sections of the code that referenced specific fee, bond and insurance amounts. All fees, bond and insurance amounts that were referenced in the code were removed and to a master Schedule of Fees, Bond and Insurance. All other City fees were also added. Future modifications to fees will now be approved by resolution, rather than ordinance. An annual review of the fees will take place annually during the budget process.

UTILITY RATE INCREASES (effective July 1, 2024)

City Council approved utility rate increases that will take effect on July 1, 2024 at their June 20, 2024 meeting with Resolution 31985. 

FRANCHISE FEES

The City has an agreement with MidAmerican Energy, Alliant Energy and Linn County REC to impose a franchise fee of 5% of their gross revenues.
