This permit is important because it helps mitigate a hazardous chemical spill or explosion. It applies to residential or commercial installation or removal of underground tanks. Property owners or contractors can apply.

Tank Install

1. Site plan with rough dimensions should accompany application.
   
   
2. Fill out application. Permit fee is $50 per tank. Submit all documentation to the Marion Fire Department located at 100 Irish Drive, Marion IA 52302 or email your application to firepermits@cityofmarion.org.
   
   
3. Instruct applicant that they need to notify Marion Fire Department at least one working day in advance to allow a MFD representative to be present for:
   • Applicable tightness test of each tank
   • Installation of each tank
   • Applicable tightness test of piping

Tank Removal

1. Site plan with rough dimensions should accompany application.
   
   
2. Fill out application. Permit fee is $50 per tank. Submit all documentation to the Marion Fire Department.
    
3. Applicant must notify Marion Fire Department when the tank removal takes place.
