Reporting a motor vehicle accident can be confusing. The Marion Police Department offers several options for residents and visitors to our community to report an accident.

If this is an emergency, please call 911! Or you can call the 911 Communications Center non-emergency line at (319) 377-1511.

Also offered:

Online Crash Reporting System

This reporting system allows residents and visitors to our community to report a non-injury or minor injury (no medical attention needed) motor vehicle accident or hit and run that caused property damage without summoning a police officer. Upon completion of the report, you will be able to print a temporary copy for your records.

There are two ways to utilize the Online Crash Reporting System.

  • The first is by using the link found at the bottom of this page.
  • The second is by calling the Quick Connect phone number of (833) 537-1736 from a cell phone. You will be sent a text message and instructions that will assist you in linking with our agency’s online reporting section of this website. Be advised that this phone number is specific for the Marion Police Department and only accidents that occurred within the city limits of Marion may be reported on the online system.

Again, if this is an emergency, please call 911!

Before you begin:
  1. Turn off your pop-up blocking software.
  2. Make sure you have a valid email address.
  3. Have your vehicle VIN# readily available (if applicable).
  4. Verify damage is less than $1,500 for the incident.
  5. If you are unsure if your accident meets the criteria for an online report, you may call the 911 Comminications Center at (319) 377-1511 and someone will assist you in determining the best reporting option.

Upon completion of this process you will receive an email that has a temporary case number. The report will be reviewed by the Patrol Division and then you will be contacted via email if there are any issues. If no issues exist, your report will be approved and you will receive an email with your permanent case number.
