All swim team and swim lesson registrations, whether done in-person or online, will require a RecDesk household account to fully be processed. Please create an account if you have not already done so. If you have an account but cannot remember your username or password, please contact Karlene Hummel, Recreation Superintendent. She can reset your information.
Important Information
Red Cross Swimming Lessons are offered through the Marion Parks & Recreation Department.
Class sizes will be approximately 18 students.
Waiting Lists
Once a class is filled, please add yourself to the waiting list. We cannot guarantee spots will open up, however if they do we will do so from the waiting list.
Lesson Changes and Refunds
There is a $10 charge per lesson for changes to the date(s) or time(s) you have registered for. Refunds are available prior to the start of the session, less a $10 administrative fee. No refunds will be allowed after the session has begun.
Please review the times and dates for each session to ensure you are signing your child up for the correct level, time and session. Contact our office 319-447-3590 if you do not remember what level you child needs.
Please if the class you need for your child is full, do not put them in another level just to get them in.
Sessions run for two-consecutive weeks with classes meeting Monday-Friday for 35 minutes each day, unless noted.
Red Cross Levels
The following guidelines will help determine which level best fits your child’s swimming ability. All children are assessed and moved to a different level as necessary. If you feel your child is between levels please register them for the lower one. Students learn many different skills at each level. They usually need more than one session at each level to pass to the next level. Check out the schedule to find a session and time that work for you!
American Red Cross age requirements start at four year old for Level 1.
