ADOPT-A-SPOT
The Adopt-A-Spot Program has been created to encourage the community to help beautify the city through its park and city-owned landscape; parks, trails and greenspace. This is a volunteer program to encourage community pride and make Marion an attractive place to live and visit. Individuals and groups will be able to adopt select areas in the Marion parks system and maintain them from April to November.
Volunteers will be responsible for collecting litter in the designated area once per month during this period. The Parks and Recreation Department will provide the necessary personal protective equipment, training and colored garbage bags. The department will also collect the bagged garbage. Each area will have signage installed to recognize the volunteers for their efforts.

VOLUNTEER TO COACH
Many of our youth recreational programs and leagues utilize volunteer coaches/parents in order to function. Without the generous spirit and time commitment by volunteers, many of our programs would not be possible. If you are interested in coaching or helping with a program, please note this on your child’s registration form. You can also call Karlene Hummel at 319-447-3590 or email her to be added to the volunteer coaches list. It is important as a volunteer coach, that you are able to make a 100% commitment to the position. If you cannot make this commitment, please sign up as an assistant. All volunteer coaches are required to pass a background test.
