Cross Country Ski Trails
Marion Parks and Recreation will be offering cross country ski trails in select locations throughout the parks system. Parks staff will begin grooming trails when there is a minimum of 4 inches of snow that is not too wet or heavy. Trails will be maintained with a ski path groomer that will offer a track for skiers. The trail will be made double wide to allow for the addition of a groomed bike trail parallel to the ski track. Signage will be used to encourage other trail users to stay off the groomed portion of the trail to preserve the condition for skiers and bikers.

Soccer Mini-Pitch at Hanna Park
Marion was selected as one of 10 sites in Iowa to receive a soccer mini-pitch as part of a unique $1 million statewide effort between Pro Iowa, Kick It Forward and Musco Lighting to design and construct 10 mini-pitches in seven Iowa cities and expand soccer interest across the state.
“These mini-pitches offer the opportunity to rejuvenate abandoned courts or areas with limited space, creating a fun and active place that makes the game of soccer accessible to communities across our state,” said Pro Iowa’s Kyle Davy.
