The Urban Forest Utility fee can be seen on the municipal utility bill that all Marion residents receive every two months. The fee is charged to Marion residents to allocate funds for maintenance of City public trees. This includes all right-of-way street trees and City park and greenspace trees. The utility funds also support the disposal and re-use of tree-related materials including compost and mulch. The Marion Parks Department, Urban Forestry Division staff, equipment and work initiatives are directly supported by the fund as well. This includes three full-time positions; the City Arborist and an Arborist Technician I and II.

With the confirmation of the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) in Linn County and Marion City limits, the utility funds also support Ash tree removal and replacement of City-owned trees.
