The City of Marion and Iowa Department of Transportation are hosting an online public meeting to introduce the 10th Avenue Sidepaths Project in Marion. Residents and commuters are invited to view the presentation and submit comments at www.cityofmarion.org/10thAveSidepaths.
The 10th Avenue Sidepaths Project is located along a one mile stretch of 10th Avenue/U.S. Highway 151 in Marion. It includes the construction of a 10-foot wide shared-use path, providing a safe, convenient connection for pedestrians and bicyclists traveling between residential areas and businesses along the 10th Avenue corridor. It also provides a safe connection to the Route 20 – Marion Circulator bus stops. The scope of work includes grading and paving, pedestrian signals and connections to existing sidewalks.
Eighty percent of the project is funded by the Iowa’s Transportation Alternatives Program with the City of Marion covering the remaining 20 percent.
Preliminary design of the project is currently underway. Construction is anticipated to begin in May 2021.
The online meeting will be available through Aug. 14. Questions may be directed to Kesha Billings, associate planner for the City of Marion, at 319-743-6320.
