Open House set for January 9 to Gather Input on Future Improvements at Lowe Park
Join the Marion Parks and Recreation Department on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 between 5:30-7 p.m. to provide input on the next phase of improvements scheduled at Lowe Park. An all-inclusive playground, open air pavilion and restroom facility are planned near the south entrance to the park at Irish Drive.

Marion Independent School District Adopts Safe Routes to School Action Plan
The plan encourages walking and biking to school and was created using input from the City of Marion, Marion Independent School District, Corridor Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), Linn County Public Health and feedback from community members, students and parents within the district.

For the first time, the Marion Firefighter’s Association is pleased to offer a $500 scholarship to one graduating senior from Marion High School and one graduating senior from Linn-Mar High School.

Whitlow Retiring after 17 Years as Marion's City Engineer
On Friday, Dec. 29, with 17 years as Marion’s City Engineer and a 39-year career in public service, Dan Whitlow will retire from the City of Marion. The City is hosting a retirement reception and open house in his honor on Friday, Dec. 29 from 3-4:30 p.m. on the first floor at Marion City Hall.

Marion Fire Department to Assist with "Be a Santa to a Senior" Project
The Marion Fire Department will help make the holidays a little brighter for some area senior citizens on Thursday, Dec. 21 when they deliver Christmas gifts on behalf of Home Instead Senior Care’s “Be a Santa to a Senior” program.

County Home Road between C Avenue Ext and Alburnett Road to Reopen Dec. 8
The closure of this intersection began September 25 for the replacement of culverts, ditch grading and concrete paving, which is now complete.
