The Marion Fire Department is a combination fire department made up of both career and volunteer/ paid-on-call firefighters. Both groups are essential to Marion’s operations.

Thomas Park Splash Pad Closed Due to a Mechanical Issue; Other Aquatic Options Available
The splash pad at Thomas Park, 323 Marion Boulevard, will be closed for two to three weeks due to a mechanical issue. A replacement part has been ordered to repair the activator.

City Council Office Hours Resume; Saturday Mornings at Taube Park
Every Saturday one or more council members are available to interact with residents between 8-11 a.m. at the weekly Marion Farmers Market held at Taube Park, 2200 31st Street, through the end of September.

Marion to Host Open House on July 1 to Discuss Ward 4 Zoning Map Update
The City is hosting an open house solicit feedback from the public prior to the City Council public hearings. The open house will be held from 4-6 p.m. on July 1, 2021 in the City Council Chambers located at 1225 6th Avenue.

As Independence Day approaches, please be aware of the Marion rules surrounding the purchase and use of consumer grade fireworks. Their use is allowed only on July 4 from noon-11 p.m.

Mini-pitches are smaller soccer pitches that sometimes are hard-surfaced and surrounded by a rebound wall, similar to hockey, and allowing a constant state of faster game play.

The Corridor Metropolitan Planning Organization seeks input from the public on transportation projects included in the metro’s draft FFY (federal fiscal year) 2022 - 2025 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). Comments must be received on or before July 14, 2021.

Bill Carroll Introduced as Next Director of Marion Public Library
The Library Board of Trustees are pleased to announce that Bill Carroll will serve as the next Marion Public Library director. Carroll comes to Marion from the North Central Washington Libraries in Wenatchee, Washington where he served as the Director of Branch Operations for the past year.

Fireworks & Fireflies to Light Up the Marion Sky on September 3
The City of Marion is pleased to announce the return of Fireworks & Fireflies in 2021. This free event will take place at the Klopfenstein Amphitheater at Lowe Park, 4500 N. 10th Street, Marion, beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 3.

Marion Announces Reopening Plan for City Facilities
Beginning on June 7, Marion City Hall and other facilities will open to the public on Mondays and Fridays between 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Facilities will open fully to the public on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.

Moonlit Movie Series Returns to the Klopfenstein Amphitheater at Lowe Park
