Hydrant Flushing Beginning in March

Each spring, the Marion Water Department flushes the water system to remove sediment from the mains and to exercise and check the operation of the City’s fire hydrants.

Marion Fire Cautions Against Using Open Flame to Thaw Frozen Surfaces

Marion Fire Department reminds residents not to use a heat gun or any type of open flame to melt ice or thaw pipes on any structure. This could start a fire and cause injuries.

Mask Mandate Still in Effect in Linn County

The regulations make face masks mandatory in public places throughout Linn County, whenever six (6) feet of physical distance cannot be maintained. Linn County’s mask mandate applies to unincorporated areas and areas where municipalities have not taken action.

Marion Civil Rights Commission Accepting Housing Assistance Grant Applications

The grant will help non-profits, charitable organizations or other entities interested in assisting low-and-moderate income individuals with programs that address housing instability in the community. 2020 recipients of program funds were Willis Dady Homeless Services, Marion Cares and Four Oaks.

Opening Date Announced for New Marion YMCA

City Beginning Tree Debris Removal from Waterways

A contractor for the City is beginning to remove tree debris from Marion’s waterways. Maps have been created to break the waterways into sections and designate access points. For the next few weeks crews will be working on Sections 1, 2, 3 and 4 as shown below.
