    Gov. Kim Reynolds and the Iowa Department of Education announced today that all school districts and nonpublic schools will be closed for the remainder of the school year and will continue to offer continuous learning to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

    Marion Parks & Recreation to Close Disc Golf Course

    Marion’s parks and trails remain available for use. Under the governor’s latest order, groups are now limited to only the people that live within a household. The proclamation also requires people to remain six feet away from people outside their household, which applies to parks and trails.

    High-touch and high-traffic areas such as the playgrounds, fitness trail equipment, skatepark, baseball diamonds, and basketball courts have all been closed. All schools throughout Marion have taken similar action to discourage youth and adults from congregating.

    Consistent with neighboring cities, the City of Marion has made the decision to temporarily close playgrounds and outdoor exercise equipment in City parks to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Parks and trails will remain open.
