    Trick-or-Treat at City Hall and Marion Public Library

    Visit City Hall from 3-5 p.m. on Halloween and collect candy and other treats from staff on both floors at City Hall. Marion Public Library will provide treats at each of the desks during normal business hours on Halloween.

    School Bus Safety Reminders

    Several studies have shown that on average someone drives through a bus stop sign on every school bus once a day. If you think of that happening once per day to every school bus, there is a lot of potential for a child being hit by a car. A major cause of this is distracted driving.

    Marion City Council Member Randy Strnad has been awarded the Certified Elected Municipal Official (CEMO) designation in 2019. The designation was established by the Iowa League of Cities as a way to recognize elected officials who commit to continuing their professional development while in office.

    The City of Marion is pleased to introduce Mike Kitsmiller as its next chief of police. Kitsmiller will be responsible for the administration, coordination and direction of all Marion Police Department activities. The department employs 45 sworn officers and 15 civilian employees.

    City leaders and Chamber ambassadors will join members of the Marion Fire Department on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at noon to break ground on Marion’s third fire station. The event will take place at 100 Irish Drive, on the southwest corner of Tower Terrace Road and Irish Drive.
