Suggestions may be submitted online at www.cityofmarion.org/NameTheY. Ideas will be collected from Jan. 15-Feb. 15, 2020. Representatives from the City of Marion and the YMCA will review the suggestions and make a recommendation to Marion City Council.

Marion Fire Department called to Condominium Fire on Magnolia Lane
Upon arrival of the first engine, firefighters found a three-story multi-condominium (6-unit) building with smoke and flames coming from the roof area on the east side of the building.

Curbside Collection of Yard Waste has Ended for 2019: Drop off Facility Open Year Round
Marion's Yard Waste Facility is open six days a week, year round for residents to drop off yard waste at no charge. It is located at 195 35th Street.

Santa's Workshop Setting up Shop in the Former Maid-Rite Building
Santa’s Workshop will be open from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Dec. 13, 14, 20 and 21. Community members are invited to visit with Santa and enjoy photo ops, cookies, and cocoa.

City Offices to Close in Observance of Thanksgiving Holiday
Garbage and recycling will not be collected on Thanksgiving Day and pick-up will be delayed by a day for both Thursday and Friday routes.

Groundbreaking Ceremony Scheduled for New Marion YMCA
The YMCA of the Cedar Rapids Metropolitan Area and the City of Marion are pleased to announce that the official groundbreaking ceremony of the new building will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019. The ceremony will be held at 3740 Irish Drive, Marion; the future home of the New Marion YMCA.
