An online survey is now available at https://polco.us/sc9trc and will be open through Wednesday, Aug. 31. The feedback will be considered by the Plaza Steering Committee and Marion City Council before design documents are finalized and construction documents are prepared.

The closed portion of 10th Street will reopen and work is expected to begin on the two blocks west on 7th Avenue, between 8th and 10th Streets. Three legs of the 10th Street intersection will remain open to traffic.

Downs comes to the City of Marion with more than 22 years of local government experience. She has been a leader and collaborator in the region, having served as city manager for the City of Hiawatha since 2013. Her first day on the job will be Sept. 6, 2022.

Field crews will be performing survey and historical/archaeological investigations through summer and early fall. Utility locate flags and paint will be visible along the roadway; this step helps ease the process of utility coordination during the design phase.

Like many projects in recent years, the library has also been impacted by the availability of materials, delivery delays, and labor shortages. Before the building can open to the public, railings on the exterior of the building and shrouds that cover the restroom sinks must be installed.

At approximately noon on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, LL Pelling will switch lane closures, traffic control, and detour routes for the work currently impacting 10th Street and 10th Avenue. By the end of day Wednesday, July 27, Northview Drive will be completed reopened to traffic.

The Business Innovation & Support Grant is designed for small businesses with one to 10 employees. The grant provides funding ranging from $5,500 to $15,500. Each award comes with up to five hours of mandatory business counseling by a pre-approved business coach.
