Military Tribute Banners Now on Display
This year, 113 banners are on display honoring veterans and military personnel with ties to Marion. The banners will be up through Veterans Day 2022.

City Offices to Close in Observance of Memorial Day; Pool and Splash Pads to Open
Garbage/recycling and yard waste will not be collected on Memorial Day. Collection will be one day late all week; pick-up dates will be Tuesday-Saturday.

Representatives of Marion and Hiawatha Travel to Washington, DC Seeking Support for Tower Terrace Road Project
Completion of this project will improve existing infrastructure, expand access and connectivity, increase motorist safety and advance the overall sustainability and efficiency of the region. Ninety-nine letters of support were gathered in support of the application.

Marion Introduces New "Movies on the Move" Series
The Marion Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to introduce a new traveling movie program known as “Movies on the Move.” The events are free and open to the public. Between May and September, on the third Tuesday of the month, the department will bring an outdoor movie to select Marion parks.

Tom Daubs Honored with the Paul Draper Spirit of Marion Award
Tom Daubs has served as a Marion police officer for the past 26 years. For the last 10 years, he has been the school resource officer for Linn-Mar Community Schools. He also serves as the Marion Police Department’s public information officer.

YMCA Healthy Kids Day and Marion City Showcase Happening This Saturday
City staff will be on hand to visit and answer questions, and new Marion City Manager Ryan Waller and his family will greet community members. Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food donation to support the Churches of Marion Food Pantry (not required for entry).

Music Under the Moon Concerts at Lowe Park Announced
Guests should bring chairs or blankets for general lawn seating. Outside food and drink are permitted but select vendors will be onsite during the event. The concerts are free to attend and begin at 7 p.m.

Marion Fire Department to Host Open House for Fire Station No. 1 This Saturday
Attendees will have the opportunity to take self-guided tours and visit with members of the Marion Fire Department. The event also coincides with Healthy Kids Day and the Marion City Showcase happening concurrently across the street at the Marion YMCA & Community Rec Center.

2022 Moonlit Movie Series at Lowe Park Announced
Free kids’ activities like face painting, balloon twisting and inflatables will begin at 7 p.m. The feature presentation will begin around 8:30 p.m. (dusk).
