Marion City Hall will be closed to the public on Monday, Feb. 20 for annual cleaning. Other City facilities will be open normal business hours. Garbage and recycling will be collected on Monday and according to the normal schedule for the remainder of the week.

Rain gardens improve water quality by promoting the infiltration of rain and reducing stormwater runoff into rivers and creeks. Rain barrels collect rainwater from roofs and downspouts, reducing the amount of water one needs to purchase while also minimizing runoff.

To be eligible for consideration, candidates must be registered voters of the City of Marion and residents of Ward 1. Those eligible and interested in filling the vacancy must submit a resume and write a letter of application expressing one's desire to be considered for appointment.

Marion City Council member Colette Atkins has announced her intent to resign as Ward 1 representative on the Marion City Council effective March 31, 2023. Atkins was appointed to fill a vacancy in Ward 1 in October 2018 and was re-elected during the November 2019 election.

The proposed budget includes the addition of six firefighters as well as wage increases to support the recruitment and retention of police officers. Enhanced public bus service was considered but was deferred as City Council remains mindful of the overall impact of increases to property tax bill.
